Southerndown is the nearest championship links-style course to the Celtic Manor resort and offers a challenging experience under completely natural conditions, with bracken, gorse and the wind adding to the challenge. Henry Cotton described our first as "one of the toughest opening holes in golf!" Visitors from all over the world have played our course and many championship events have been staged here over the years. Top amateurs like Peter McEvoy and Gary Wolstenholme, world cup winners Stephen Dodd and Bradley Dredge, and the legendary Gene Sarazen have all graced our fairways. Now that you have found our website please take the next step and enjoy a round of golf with us. The views from the 10th tee are spectacular: across the channel to the North Devon coast, towards Swansea Bay and the Gower peninsula, down the Ogmore estuary towards Porthcawl and all around the hills and valleys of South Wales. Southerndown is unique in offering part sandy links and part acid-heathland, and due to its terrain it is one of the driest courses to be found throughout the land. We offer all-year-round golf being rarely closed to members and visitors alike. Only snow closes Southerndown.
